Established Standard (AORN) for Pregnancy Testing?

Hi,

I am looking to find a published standard (either through AORN or some other professional organization) regarding the time period for pregnancy tests prior to surgery. Both for outpatients and inpatients in the hospital setting.

For example, outpatients should be tested upon admit on the day of their procedure and inpatients should be tested within 24 hours of their procedure.

Our facility does not have a documented policy in place and we are looking to find an established guideline to use as a basis for writing ours. Thank you in advance!
