Essential oils

We're not supposed to allow anything that' is not FDA cleared here.

We are starting that next year. The nurse before me accepted this small vial of belladonna pearls (its not labeled so i honestly have no idea WHAT it is) that they parents wanted us to keep for coughs. One of the other nurses in the district was asked to administer drops of an EO into a students belly button to help with gas...he's the reason for our new FDA only push lol

I personally enjoy diffusing essential oils in my own home, but I have a skin reaction to Patchouli, so I definitely don't want to try and diffuse it. I wonder if I'm the only health provider in a building how that would pan out. Fingers crossed for no essential oil blends in my future!

i noticed today that one of my pre-k students is wearing an essential oil bracelet. I couldn't smell anything coming off of it and haven't decided if i'm going to confront the parent (who works in the school and often in his class). I'm not opposed to their use and have been known to use them myself - i guess since the parent is the one present and administering (and the fact that i could not smell anything that would irritate anyone), I have less concern than a parent sending in a hand labeled concoction and saying it needs to be applied throughout the day.

The decision was up to me as to whether we would allow it or not. I said I would do it if there was an order. I was pretty floored when I got a signed prescription for it. Like I said, what a nice doctor. The bottle broke 4 weeks ago and it is still faint, but here. So irritating!

I purchase my own through a company I trust, but I consult with a friend who is a Dr. of Natreopathy. She's very against the new essential oil "fad" that has risen. She often explains how in parts of Europe essential oils can only be used with a doctor's prescription because they're very regulated. Keeping my fingers crossed that not too many people use them incorrectly and end up hurting themselves (mostly those who ingest without consulting literature).

Applying them onto anyone under my care, I'd do the same - ask for an RX. 100% agree!
