Erie community college nursing questions?

Published

I wanted to know about this class for LPN-RN students which is called "mathematics of dosage". It says challenge LPN next to it. What does it mean? I'm an lpn student now so does that mean I'm exempt from that class or can I take it ahead of time? Also, for the 5.5 leap credit hours, are any classes accepted for that? I have an extra 6 credit hours from classes I took that were not needed in nursing (changed majors). So would any 6 credits count for this? I took physics (3 credits) and logic (3 credits) and passed them both.

Mathematics of dosage is a 1 credit math class open to anyone who wants to take it. LPN students can test out if they want the credit but the class is no longer required its optional. 5.5 LEAP credits are any college credits you may have gotten or you can write an essay and make a pirtfolio so you can get credit for life experience so to speak. Its probably easier just transferring over whatever college credits you may have. I was just accepted for fall. The program seems very organized and there is a lot of extra reading assigned to us this summer. Being an LPN ,the first semester is only lecture and lab and no clinical.

Congrats. Can I ask with what GPA they took you in with?

I got an A in anatomy B+ in anatomy 2 A in micro. My GPA for my core classes was a 3.57. Overall on the Hesitant exam I got an 86. I messed up in my earlier years in psych with a C. Will you be applying ?

Idk. I have one more level of the LPN program. I'm at Trocaire college and I'm not legible for ECC yet. I don't feel ECC is worth it. Most bridge programs take a year. Rumor is that they'll bring back the bridge program at Trocaire.

It's not much of a bridge progam at ECC. It's still 2 years with the exception of an easier class load that first semester.

I agree with you. At this point I'm glad I'm in a program and pray I complete it. What other schools will you be looking at if not Trocaire? ??

No, I meant not ECC. I'll attend Trocaire if I can get dual tuition assistance. I work at a hospital and if I can get into a nursing home once I get my LPN and get at least $1,000 from both employers then yeah I'll go to Trocaire. I'm looking at GCC too. It's in Batavia but it's too far. My last choice is NCCC but I hear it's hard.

Btw, since your're an LPN already, did you get tuition assistance right away or did you have to wait one year before you got it?

I had to work for a year before I got tuition assistance I work near Rochester at a nursing home so we get $5000 a year for tuition assistance for nursing. Have you finished all of your pre reqs????

Oh wow, that's good. You see, I got all my pre-requistes finished, I was in the RN program and failed. I was stupid to take microbiology with my nursing courses but it's behind me now. Once I get back into the RN program here, I'll be exempt from first semester and a few other courses.

That would be good. Yea leave the past behind because there is more in store for the future. Was the program that hard when you went?
