ER or home health?

I’m a mom with an 11 yo, 9 yo, and an 8 week old. Husband is a firefighter. He has crappy shifts, obviously. ER is 3/2 split 6:30A-6:30P . HH M-F 8A to whenever you’re done charting, plus call one night a week and one weekend every 6-7 weeks (can work with husband’s schedule).

I would start with... who is going to care for the 8 week old at 6 am? Are you looking for outside day care, or someone to come in.... get the older kids off to school and stay home with  your infant?

I agree,  your support system is vital information.

Personally I loved the ER. It was really great working directly with the doctors and a very dynamic atmosphere. I recently started the home infusion job and really don't like being in people's houses, although I am keeping one client because I love them so much. I did one on one home care and also didn't like being held hostage in someone's home .

I just started a occupational health job at a huge construction site, which fits my life really well at this point in time and chapter in my life.

I think what you have to first  look at in your situation is logistics, rather than your passion for a certain specialty. If you are going to be breastfeeding will you have ample time to pump your breasts? How will the schedule work with your husbands schedule?

Husband’s grandmother offered. As for the older kids, what we had to do when I worked ER was they went to their dad’s every night I worked to catch the bus to school the next morning because his wife stays home. And our schedule was meh…. okay, but scattered. 3 days here 2-4 days there.  But with HH, I have time to drop them off at school myself and have a better set schedule for the older ones ?
