sick child care center

I have considered this before. I have room in my home, but would not want all the germs in my home. Also, as you probably know, there would need to be some pretty strict guidelines on what sorts of illnesses you would accept. Due to the pressures on working parents (and, just some crappy parents)... I picture people trying to sneak in issues such as asthmatics who really need close supervision or more care, tots with a previous hx or febrile seizure, etc.

Yea I was hoping to combat this by having them fill out a medical release form which will allow their doctors to send any pertinent health information ie past illnesses, immunizations, etc..to the office. And of course disclaimers would be signed and I would probly need to make a list of issues that if encountered the child would need to be immediately picked up or if its a medical emergency sent to ER

It seems like there would be a need, since its much easier than taking the day off

I def wouldn't suggest doing this type of care in the home

I've seen this done successfully only in hospital campus based child care. The center was open to employees and local residents. The sick child care was run by two nurses and had strict guidelines for acceptance and exclusion. Dept of health kept close watch

A related (but more predictable income) idea is this: Day care for special needs/ medically fragile/ technology dependent kids.

For example- the vent dependent population. You can't always depend on kids being sick- but a vent kid is a vent kid.

I work/worked in child care for years and the premise of this sounds okay but the actual execution of sounds like it would be a nightmare. You should also expect to have licensing down your throat.
