Enrolling as a part time matriculated student for preference in registering for classes?

Published

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone has ever enrolled as a matriculated student in order to get preference to enroll for nursing prerequisite classes. If so, what major did you declare?

I already have a bachelor's degree in a non science major.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Is there a pre-nursing or pre-health science major? Though I am not sure how that will give you any "preference". The schools I've been to just open registration up on a certain date and time to all undergraduate students.

I don't completely understand your question - don't all Colleges require you to be admitted in order to take classes?

If this is the same school that you will be seeking your RN degree then I'd bet they have some designated major, such as Pre-Nursing, that you would declare... even if they don't, what would it really matter? choose anything or undecided just to finish your pre-reqs and then apply to the nursing program.

I'd only be going to this school to fulfill my prerequisites. My worry is that if I try to register for the classes I need, I won't be left with much of a choice.

I think the only benefit of declaring a major is to receive financial aid. Registration is first come, first served regardless of major or non-matriculating student, in most instances
