Endorsing CA RN license to Georgia

Published

I graduated with a BSN and passed my California NCLEX in Jan 2011. I would like to have my license endorsed to GEORGIA, however, I am having a problem locating the website where I can find specific details on what I need to submit to the board of Nursing in Georgia. If anyone could kindly direct me to the exact location- I say thank you!

I would like to work mainly in Atlanta!

Thanks!

Here is an FAQ that explains what you need to do to obtain a license by endorsement:

http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/faqs/38%20faqs.htm

And here is the form you need to fill out and submit to the Georgia Board of Nursing. Click on "Application for Licensure by Endorsement".

Thankyou Cheri234!

Give yourself a LOT of time. Ga took forever, longer than any other state and more than 3x as long as they told me on the phone. Be patient and call often to check on your application. If you are a new grad, you do not have to meet that X hours of practice requirement you just tell them you are a new graduate.

I think it also depends on the time of year that you apply, as in if you apply when a lot of new graduates are applying for licensure by examination then it will probably take much longer. I mailed my application in March on a Thursday and got the e-mail saying I was approved for licensure by endorsement the next Thursday.

Thank you both!

please help everyone.. im also a new graduate and i wanted to know which path will take a shorter time to get my license in georgia through endorsement or applying directly to BON georgia through licensure examination? thank you! your response will be greatly appreciated.. god bless!

They are both probably about the same. The lag is with the paperwork/filing. I did my nclex in CA as well as GA and they took forever with the paperwork. Allow about 3 months.

I forgot, that turn around was with live scan instead of the old ink print way
