ENDORSEMENT of LICENSE

Published

HI.....

here's my story. i recently passed my CA boards and i am now a RN. my problem is, it just so happens that im not moving to CA and just staying here in FL. Has any of you done licensure endorsement? how long does it usually take? what frustrating for me is that i have applied at hospitals here in FL hoping that they would hire me as a GN but NO....they want me to work as a nsg asst. i totally disagree with that. i used to be a nsg asst without a license and here i am an RN in another state and they want me to be a nsg asst here. please.....i really need help. any info would be helpful!

thanks!

Legally, you cannot work as a nurse, RN or GN, in the state of FL without a license (or, in the case of GN status, a permit) from the state of FL. Your CA license means nothing in FL. Since you're a licensed RN in another state (now), you're not eligible for GN status anyway -- that is only for people who have graduated from nursing school but haven't yet taken the NCLEX.

Check the FL BON website (accessible from this site -- click on the "Resources" tab in the upper right corner of the screen, the "Boards of Nursing" on the drop-down menu that appears -- that will take you to an alphabetized list of all the US BONs, with links) and look for the instructions for application for licensure by endorsement. All the info you need should be there.

Best wishes! :)

I don't have any adivise to offer, but is just curious as to why you took the exam in CA...did you hve plans to move there????
