i am also planning to start the endorsement process myself from california to new mexico.

step one: first i went to this website. you can get here by clicking on applications for licensure (2nd link at top) on the main new mexico board of nursing website

http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms.php

step two: then i scrolled down to endorsement, clicked on lpn/rn endorsement application and downloaded it.

then i read the eligibility requirements to make sure i am allowed to apply for endorsement. (check page 2 of the lpn/rn endorsement application.)

if you have questions on whether you are qualified, you can call the new mexico board of nursing or contact them online (info on page 1)

step 3: so if you are eligible, according to section 1 on page 3 of the applications, you need to get fingerprinting done. (read pages 8, 9 and 10 of your application for more information on fingerprinting.

after you have read the info, you need to request the fingerprint cards at this website:

http://www.bon.state.nm.us/fingerprint_form.php

after you submit your information, you will be taken to a screen that says your request will be processed in 2 weeks.

step 4: so now while you are waiting to get those fingerprint cards in the mail, you need to get california to verify your license to new mexico.

go back to this website:

http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms.php

scroll down to endorsement; click the 2nd link called endorsement request form. download and print this form.

step 6: now go to the website below to get info on the fees california charges to get your licensed verified. you can print this info out if you want.

http://rn.ca.gov/licensees/verifications.shtml

step 7: so fill out the info on the verification form you downloaded from new mexico. (step 3)

get a check/or money order and mail the form in to california board of nursing

ok so you have mailed your endorsement form to california. it can take up to 6 weeks to get process so patient.

total fees calculated to get endorsed to new mexico:

*verification of rn license: $ 60.00

nm app. fee with temp license: $160.00

background check fee: $ 44.00

fingerprint fee: $75.00

around $339.00

now about the fingerprinting fee, it could cost less or more than $75.

hope this helps and good luck! consider it an investment. the job market in cali in tough.

saw this on the new mexico board of nursing site (towards the bottom)

attention!

click here if you are an internationally educated applicant for licensure

attention - internationally educated applicants for licensure

the new mexico board of nursing no longer does internal evaluation of transcripts. please be sure to read all the information regarding licensure requirements by clicking on exam/renewal forms, then select "exam application" for complete details regarding application. all applications from internationally educated applicants that do not meet requirements of transcript evaluation by a recognized credentials review organization will be returned.

internationally educated nurses must demonstrate english competency. this can be demonstrated through successful completion of an approved english competency exam such as:

- test of english as a foreign language (toefl) or

- test of english for international communication (toeic) or

- test for english for the academic version of international english language testing system (ieltst) or

- successful completion of a nursing program that is given in english in another country or

- a passing score on a nursing examination which is given in english in another country or

- a certificate from the commission on graduates from foreign nursing schools or other agencies which indicates successful completion of toefl, toeic, or ielts.

For the NM application, I had my temporary license number available online 2 business days after I mailed my application.

You have no license to endorse so usual scenario is complete application for license by exam and arrange for CA to forward exam results to new state BON
