I just graduated a CMA program and have my AAMA certification. I'm in the hiring process of working at a clinic of a major hospital that I've done my 10 week externship at. The manager had me do job interviews my last day because I've never missed a day, I show up early and stay late if needed, etc. Now I have to do the background check and drug test. Background check is no problem. I've got a prescription for adderall and klonopin and I'm terrified that she'll decide not to hire me even though she's desperate for MAs. I CANNOT come off of these meds because of my adhd and PTSD. Could this legally affect my employment? This is my dream job and I'm terrified.

As long as you have a current Rx for those, you are fine. Take the scripts in the pharmacy bottles to the lab when you do the test and show them. Drug screens are looking for illegal and / or non-prescribed drugs- not legit prescribed meds.

Good luck!
