Employers and personal private info

Published

As new RN I was interviewed for a position and was excited. This employer asked for my personal information like SSN, RN Licence #, DOB, DL# , CAR INSURANCE as a requirement before offering me the job letter. After offering the job letter, he said he is still setting up the business and work will only begin in about four months. My spirit tells me something is not right? Can anyone advice please? Thank you.

Is it for home health? When I applied for a HH position I had to fill out and provide all of that information as well. I assume car insurance is because it's HH and you will be driving to and from patients homes. That's the only time I have had to give my car insurance info.

All applications ask for the same information. SS #, RN license, DOB, is all standard. I think I have always had to give a copy of my DL also. They need that info to run a background check on you and prove you are who you say.

Four months is a long time to wait to start working after applying. How did you find out about the job? Was the application paper in person or Internet? Did you google the business?

If it seems sketchy I would do an Internet search for information on the business and owner. It could be possible that someone is starting a small company and taking applications early.

Thanks so much Karou for responding.

Yes it is home health. I found about the job on indeed and goggled it too but information was sketchy. Like I mentioned,He did not inform me of four months wait, that is why I am skeptical and not sure what to do? Not sure most importantly if my details are being used rather for the progress of his business.

I did not have to provide car information just sign a statement f I had access to reliable transportation. The one agency that insisted I did not accept the job as I refused to transport clients in my personal vehicle

Thanks @Justbeachynurse
