So I have gotten into both Emory's ABSN+MSN and Vanderbilt's pre specialty MSN programs. The only problem is I have no idea where to go!
Vanderbilt would technically be a cheaper option (still expensive though) and Emory's is SUPER expensive at 180k!
I am hoping to get the NURSE Corp scholarship, but I won't find that out until fall and Emory's program starts this upcoming May (I know it is so close and I still don't know!!)
PROS of Emory:
Get BSN and MSN
weather
I like ATL
#4 for best nursing schools!
seems like they have a great nursing student community
as a minority, I feel as though I might like Atlanta's community better
CONS of Emory:
TUITION$$$
starts so soon
PROS of Vanderbilt
only 2 years
slightly cheaper
starts later (fall)
2nd year is online so I could move anyways
CONS
No BSN (but I don't think I'll need it since I'm wanting to go straight to NP anyways)
I don't think I'll like Nashville (kinda small and too country for me)
not very diverse
lower in rankings than Emory (at #15)
heard the nursing student community wasn't good there for pre specialty students (heard this from a student in the program who goes there now)
Any opinions? Do you think its worth the loans for Emory?
I had a hard time in undergrad (socially) and would love to have a great community/environment which I think Emory will definitely offer, but I am having some serious doubts about those student loans.
Thoughts??
Thanks everyone!
