I'm a TCRN and didn't know it. Anyone else? (BCEN)

I logged into my BCEN account just to take a look at the recertification requirements, since my cert expires later this year. In reviewing my information, BCEN also has me listed as TCRN (Trauma Certified RN). Were CENs grandfathered into this certification? Is there any benefit to maintaining this certification if you're already a CEN?

If you did not take the TCRN exam, this is an error. It is a new board certification and does not replace the CEN. I have both, and I sat for the TCRN exam in October as a beta tester. If you did not sit for the beta exam for TCRN, you should contact the BCEN to investigate. The exam is not available for everyone until February.

Turns out that this might just be some sort of scripting error with their website. On my homepage, it tells me I'm certified for both, but when I go to Certification Status, it only shows my CEN. Oops!

That is hilarious. I took the beta exam and passed, but it is ONLY showing on my certifications page and not yet on my home page! :D

I logged in and it showed me the same page. It's def an error because when I also click on my certs it only shows my CEN and expiration date.

Gotta study if you want that cert too. ;)

I'm Im trying to make sure I have all my CEs, I still have 2 1/2 years before renewal. What's some good classes that people have talent? My current job doesn't require TNCC and I'd rather take something else because after working trauma for years I think I know the flow well enough. Any recommendations? I was thinking about ENPC because of how weak I am in peds. Thanks in advance!

ENPC is good. Also try to find Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) — it's a one-day course that is usually grant-funded (i.e., free for paramedics, nurses, physicians, PAs, NPs, etc.). The ENA website has a lot of free online CEUs for members, too.
