I'm annoyed at myself for doing so, but I saw a post on the FB "All ER Nurses" post wherein a new graduate posted for solicitation of likes to a Vaccinations 101 page. Her statement "I promise I'll do super sexy compressions" or something like that.

Not sorry, but that is offensive to those of us who take our roles seriously.

If you are on here, that was highly inappropriate and I told you as much on the page.

Yeah. Not going well. She's telling me to take my negativity elsewhere. I'm sure her future employer is waiting for someone of her maturity and professional caliber.

It's a public site, for crying out loud. If you want to lampoon it, do it where you're not identifying yourself. There's a time and place.

I weep.

Of course I got yelled at and in all caps because I'm an old biddy. NETY was used. Good grief. As Murtaugh says, "I'm too old for this . . . ."

Just wow. Does her profile list the school?

I think in further comments on that thread, from which I've now detached myself, she mentions a place where she is in the neuro ICU. I bowed out realizing that I was not evenly matched in the conversation especially when her crew began to berate me. Forgive me for trying to impart some wisdom. I suspect that she will soon enough get her comeuppance given her specialty.

I'm not vindictive enough to let her employer know, but they should.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty but the pig enjoys it.

Corollary: Never get int a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

okay....so what does posting this here accomplish? People online are stupid and say stupid things...this includes all professions. As far as thinking about notifying her employer...

A friend of mine who worked at a school district and coached there as well made a dumb comment on another friend's political post. Somebody screenshotted it and sent it to his school. He lost his job and coaching position. Totally ruined his life because somebody felt it unprofessional enough to send it to an employer.

So yes, moral of the story you should always be professional online and not say anything that could jeopardize your career. Do you think this young women deserves life altering consequences because of what she said. Just some food for thought

I wouldn't think to notify an employer. I'd just be curious if someone so free with trolling and bizarre commentary like sexy CPR would freely share personal info in a public profile. They usually set up their own demise without help from others.

So I recently started a modified Keto diet so I joined Ketogenic Success on Facebook. All these people keep posting on the page about serious medical concerns and how their doctor doesn't want them to do the diet. People keep firing back saying that doctors and nurses don't know where they're talking about, we're all idiots, just in it for the money.... I try to be the voice of reason and tell them that even a moderate protein diet can cause health issues in those with kidney or liver issues and that the electrolyte imbalances many people experience can cause health issues for those people with a cardiac history amongst other chronic illnesses but nobody wants to listen to me. Somebody is going to get hurt...

If they wanted to hear the voice of reason, they would have already listened to their family and friends. Nope. They want to pay their money and enjoy their miracle. Or their dialysis. Whichever comes first.

Just recently, I came across a quote from a well-known person who referred to Social Media as an "echo chamber for egos" where online exchanges just bounce around to reinforce what posters already believe .... with no regard for facts or accuracy. Pretty spot-on, I think.
