Specializes in icu/er.

hey guys, i have a few younger nurses in my er that have been studying to take the cen. some of us that already have the certification have done our best to help prepare them for the exam. however i'm someone that believes that you can learn alot or pick-up on important things from specific content threads. in order to help my new people and others out there wanting to pass the exam i would like to start a cen exam pearls thread. any suggestions or cen important content would be most helpful from cen certified nurses or nurses that have taken the exam. also, any questions that stick out in your mind from the test would be a great bennifit too. thanks.

i remember a question on toxicology about antidotes for tricyclics and digoxin..bicarb and digi-bind. of course the questions were formatted in a scenerio type sittuation.

Don't think it's allowed to give CEN questions on here...

Thank you, Larry. I was thinking the same thing ... I'm pretty sure that part of the agreement in taking the test is to NOT share test questions. Please refrain from doing so, or the thread will be closed. Thanks.

Let's take a different tact then...

I am thinkin about buying mo-metrix flashcards from ebay for the exam. Am not impressed by reviews for boswell's book and I own ENA book BUT like a real ER nurse, I totally and completely lack the attention span for it and I use it mostly as a reference guide.

Anybody with recommendations for test prep?

Thanks,

Vic

I liked MedEd/Jeff Solheim. :)

I bought the flashcards. They are not question/answer cards, more of brief summaries about topics - for example, the cardiac section has multiple cards about anuerysms - where they are, how they form, and common treatment. Like " discuss thoracic aneurysms"

I like the cards, I am moving through them slowly, then will start to work on practice questions.
