when you recieve packet 4 and you make your embassy medical appointment, i assume you have to fill in a form about your medical history?

does this need to be confirmed or countersigned by your gp? or do you just fill in the questionnaire yourself?

im just wondering as obviously i will need to make a gp appointment for this and there will probably be a fee! (again);)

thanks

I cant remember if you had to get your GP to fill in anything, I guess you must have. One of the senior reg's at work filled in some stuff for me the TB questionairre, which you have to do after the mantoux test, but I didnt pay for anything re the GP i used to be his Midwife at his surgery so he didnt charge, which was nice.

ah its not what you know it who then lol ;)

i have one that the gp has to fill in for the quality management pack, thats the pack with the mantoux test thing in for the facility. i wonder if that is the one you are thinking of? trouble is there is that much paperwork its easy to get the darned things all mixed up lol

Sorry to dissapoint you but when you fail your mantoux test tomorrow-you will be presumed to be positive for active TB so you will have to fill in more paperwork with your GP, I know the paperwork at your stage just goes on and on, and you will fill in more and more when you get over here. Thats why i recommend buying a printer/fax because it will cost a fortune to fax otherwise.

naa im not disappointed ive got used to it now!

thankfully we have a fax/scanner/printer at home which has been really useful

up to now, i will have to get another one when we move as i will miss it dreadfully

blimy when you talk about me failing my mantoux test it sounds dead serious

actually i thought it may have started to react by now but it doesnt look like ive had anything done at all maybe it will show up later on?

My UK friend had a terrible time at the hospital over the PPD test. They said she was positive for TB which obviously she will test positive if she had the BCG!!!

I cant rememebr either if you had to get GP to fill any stuff on for embassy. What I will say is make sure you are up to date with vaccinations etc and it would be a good idea to get a letter off GP to outline medical history etc like smears etc as when I went for medicals they said it was really helpful and speeded up the process for us too!!!

Dont worry about mantoux test I am always negative, which is bad for the UK but good for the US.

When I had my medical in April I just had to fill in a questionnaire about my medical history, I didn't have to get anything from my GP. I didn't have to get the mantoux test done either until I arrived here, then I had it done as a pre-employment requisite. But it might be different if you're with an agency, I dunno.

yeah tina ogp like you to have it done before you get there

this test on my arm hasnt changed at all and im having it read later, which seeing as i had the bcg 5 years ago i find a bit odd

anyway, at least will save me the extra paperwork, mind you it puts me in a bad position for work here really

Nah no such luck I still had to do the paperwork they wouldnt listen that I didnt have a positive test so ridiculous

bah! hopes of not being stuck inside doing silly paper exercise are dashed!!

i dont know if you had the same stuff to fill in kay, but we have a form that the nurse doing the test fills in with the batch number of the drug etc on and the test result, then we have another to fill in about tb symptoms if we had a postive result

plus a fitness for work sheet which needs to be filled in by our gp

plus vaccination titres

and all this is before the embassy medical

jeeze

mind you, i will take my titres to the medical as well as my vaccination history, just to be sure so they will be useful for then.

Honestly the paperwork you filled in at the begining of this whole episode of your life is just doubled now, just when you think you never want to see another piece of paper ever again.

Dont forget to stop taking co-codamol (if you do take it) around now or anything with codiene in it because whilst it is legal in UK it is not in the USA. They will have you drug tested within 48hours of arrival in US. Remember some of the flu remedies may have it too.
