Hi all, I'm new here and enjoying all the great advice.:) I have a question... Here goes...
I am entering LPN school at the end of the month. I have finished all pre-reqs and all of the classes required for an LPN certificate except the core nursing classes which i couldn't take until I was accepted. I got in.:yeah:I plan on continuing on for my RN, however at my cc, you must take the LPN as a pre-req for the RN program. Here's where the dilemma is. Acceptance into the RN program relies heavily on GPA as well as how a student performs in clinicals. Since I have a few credit hours to fill in, I am taking psych of human relations and concepts of wellness and physical fitness because I know this will help to make me a better nurse. Question...Am I screwing myself by not taking a course such as bowling or another class that would surely be an easy A???? Please advise.

I'm in the same situation. I need to be full time to gt fin. aid, but only need micro and A&P1 and 2, so this fall Im obviously in AP1 and taking electives to fill up the space. I'm opting for ones Ill actually use. If you apply yourself you can get a great grade and information you will need down the line rather than just an easy class.

If you know you can still do well in your pre-reqs, I say go for it! Take the harder electives that you will actually learn useful information from! Those classes definitely sound like they will teach you things that you will be able to use as a nurse later on.
I had to take a couple filler classes while I was completing my pre-reqs as well, so I would take electives like Medical Terminology and Psychology of Human Sexuality, and they even helped me in some of my pre-req classes. Plus, I always love learning about the human body and psyche.
So have fun and good luck with your pre-reqs!

Definitely take something you'll use, otherwise it's a waste of your money. Plus, typically even elective classes that are useful are going to be a bit easier, at least that's been my experience. If you do the work, read and pay attention and get help when you need it, you should be fine.

I took only what I needed and not an extra class anywhere. If it was an "Arts" class, I took History of Rock N Roll. I don't care if it was an easy A or not. It fit the requirement in the category, was online, and I didn't have to use my brain.

I say go with your gut. I've done both options, and have gotten things out of both. My easy A's were reserved for when I was already loaded with time consuming classes, so they served the purpose of me learning something fun without short circuiting my brain.

i would say something you will actually use, however if gpa needs a boost then Easy a!

I think if you think those classes will help you become a better nurse go for it! As for gpa boosting, I guess it would depend on your current GPA. If it's not as high as you would like then put an easy A course in there. If not so much then stick to the classes you have and do your best :)
I'm currently doing the same but I'm opting for the easy A course because it relaxes me (ceramics 2) in the midst of all of the nursing school stress. :)
