In my breakroom at work. One twenty-something turns on TV, looking for election results. After a few minutes, she and another one are shocked to find out that Dr Oz is running. One comments that "the other guy looks hard core".
Another few minutes go by, and they cheer when Fetterman is declared the winner.
And, one says about Oz, "that guy sucks". Smh

At least they have the sense to sense that Oz wasn't a good candidate. I forget sometimes that being somewhat politically aware how little some people know about politics.
With the economy being the primary concern the House most likely will slip to Republican control and perhaps the Senate too.
Locally here in Florida Republicans solidified their status as a Red state winning election after election. Even locally the school board winners were right leaning, one even spewing Q-Anon type theories according to my best friend who is a big time news junkie.
In Georgia, Walker is behind, but barely. Doesn't look like the winner will get the votes to avoid a run off. So we won't know for a while.
It doesn't seem to be the "blood bath" that some predicted but still overall a good day for Republicans and definitely a mandate that people don't like what Biden's doing.

It's not even 9:00pm and we know this. Florida is not going to be a state that you will not know the results rather quickly.
I can take comfort that my representative for my neighborhood which has been gerrymandered out of the city to make the city red, remains represented by a Democrat.
It's crazy to me that states refuse to count the early and mailed vote as they come in. Florida gets the counting done in a timely fashion. Alaska's vote is much more difficult to tabulate with our spread out Villages off of the road system.
The MAGA Republican that took over the beach community where my best friend lives in the WaPo
QuoteYou should know the name Anna Paulina Luna. In two months, it will be etched outside a congressional office in D.C., a marker of a younger, more diverse, more online generation of Trump’s Republican Party. Soon it will appear alongside names you already know, like Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), on the rolls of the House Freedom Caucus, a hardline conservative group poised to push Trump’s agenda with even more power in a Republican House.

MTG isn't exactly a productive or effective legislator for her district. We should hope that this election denier is interested in governance and not just celebrity.

LOL...Actually, they have no idea what kind a candidate either one was.

No, definitely not a bloodbath. That was a bad term to use. Even if the Republicans had won even more than they did, it was predicted many, many races would be decided by a very close margin. And, they were.
I'm feeling good about the results. I always believe things are better when there is a more even number. When each party holds more seats, or for lack of a better word "dominates" any section of governments is when things get really bad. The people have voted!!

I hope so too. But I find more people dislike her than like her. Perhaps she'll give up the celebrity and do her job.

I feel that his medical status is not appropriate for his position.I feel this position put his health at a greater risk. But apparently the voters don't. That's democracy!
QuoteFormer President Donald Trump is reportedly fuming over the Republican Party's failure to produce a red wave, but he's not ruling out an announcement about a 2024 presidential campaign.
The twice-impeached former president's hand-picked GOP candidates largely flopped in Tuesday's midterm elections, and Democrats still have an outside shot at maintaining congressional majorities in both chambers, which CNN's Jim Acosta said leaves Trump and his inner circle pointing fingers at one another.
“'Trump is livid' and 'screaming at everyone,' after last night’s disappointing midterm results for GOP, according to a Trump adviser," Acosta reported. "The adviser went on to slam the former president’s handpicked contenders: 'they were all bad candidates.' 'Candidates matter,' the adviser said."

No one has suggested a much.
Trump lost the popular vote in 2016. Trump lost both the House and the Senate in 2018. Trump lost the popular vote again in 2020. Trump candidates were largely unsuccessful this election cycle.
The republican party is not yet done with Trump and his MAGAphiles because so many of their voters are not yet done. If they were smart they would help the rest of the country hold Trump accountable and remove political power from his reach. Their voting base could then refocus their affections upon another, more democracy oriented political figure. Until then we'll have to remain vigilant to the harmful presence of the likes of MTG.
