i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
No, I didn't get it. Apparently, I was the first to interview for the OR position. I think one person liked me, but I could tell the other wasn't impressed with the small amount of PEDI we actually get.
Oh well...my husband is already saying, "Since you're not working this summer...." I guess he knows I need a break.
I still may try to get a part-time, or PRN tech job ....?????????
At least you had an interview, maybe because I chose the inpatient units, instead of the OR or outpatient, I didn't get an interview. It might had also something to with, that we only were in our second semester. I will definitely try to get a job as a PCA somewhere this summer, I just don't think we get enough "hands on" in clinicals ,and I still feel so dumb and clumsy around the patients.

I didn't know you applied for an extern position at Scottish Rite. I applied at Children's for an extern position in the PICU and I'm supposed to find out sometime in the next couple of weeks....I am soooooooooo nervous. They were supposed to decide by the end of March but now they pushed it to mid-April. I'm nervous because they hardly accept ADN students
I tried to get one of two OR nurse extern positions.
There are hired ADNs there, so I know Scottish Rite doesn't have a problem with ADN, but there were over 100 applicants for 14 positions overall.
The lady in the people dept did tell me to put my application in as a PCT if I was interested, as soon as I finish the PEDI rotations. However, it is SOOOOO far to drive to do the same stuff I can do around where I live.
I wanted the OR position because that is my ultimate dream... :)
Don't give up hope Allison!!! Just like I told the lady in the People Dept when I called up there once....."No news is better than bad news." SO, keep a positive thought, and maybe....just maybe....

by the way did you get the externship at Scottish Rite, I called before I got my letter. She told me some story of that everyone got an interview that had there stuff in right away. I know that I had mine in at least by the first week, (was just waiting for that second referral, since the school had to send it). So I'm disappointed I didn't even get an interview, they called me when I had the flu and asked where I would like to work the most. So I really thought I had a good shot, but then I never heard from them again. Did you get it?
