EC Life Span Developmental Psych req

Published

I am currently a LPN student working on my EC pre reqs that way I can go right into the nursing part of the RN program as soon as I get my LPN License. I have taken Psychology at the local community college and was wondering if anyone knows or has experience transfering Psych to EC. Will it cover the Life SPan Developmental Psychology Core requirement or will it just be considered an elective.

If it does not fufil the requirement is there a CLEP test that will cover it? I don't want to pay the $250 if I don't have to.

TIA

Intro to Psych can count as an elective depending on which program you do (ASN vs AAS), best to ask your advisor about that. It doesn't cover the Development Psych course, they gave me 3 science elective credits for it though.

I did the EC Life Span Dev Psych course, it was a little tough but doable and I ended up w/a B. There is also a Human Growth and Development CLEP that you can take that will fulfill the requirement, but make sure you get that approval in writing from your EC advisor before you do it.

Human Growth & Development still does satisfy it - check out the credit by exam options on EC's website, it lists test equiv. for each of the CLEP/DSST exams

I was told by an Excelsior counselor that the Human Growth Clep was acceptable, as well as other Clep exams not shown on that particular page. It's my understanding that the exams that are listed on the "credit by exam" page are the available "Excelsior" exams. Any Clep or DSST equivalent need to be reviewed/approved by a counselor.

I came into EC with credits in both Intro to Psych and Abnormal Psych, and still had to do something for Lifespan. I took the Human Growth and Development CLEP -- much cheaper route. :)
