East Los Angeles College

Published

Hi all,

I received a letter from east los angeles college today stating that i've met the first part of the selection process and its telling me to go take the TEAS test before the final selection can be made.

Does it mean a seat has been reserved for me and once I completed and passed the test I will be starting the program or passing the test only gets me into the lottery system, even passing the TEAS test wont guarantee that I will be get picked for 100%.

Does anyone know how ELAC's nursing program actually works? please advice. ^__^ Thanks.

ELAC's nursing department is excellent. Call the secretary and ask her your question. Do well on the TEAS and you'll get in. It's a great program. I am a proud ELAC grad!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!;)

Hello everyone!

is there anyone that's currently in ELAC nursing program that would like to give some insite to the nursing program?

that would be awesome to hear about the classes, the faculty, and of course the program it self.

any thoughts or concerns would be good!

hope to hear from you

not a current student but I am a 2006 grad. East LA has amazing teachers and a very supportive director who is pretty much on top of everything and doesn't let her students sink. Every instuctor will provide extra tutoring or do whatever they need to to help you pass. It is a good program, tough to get into and they expect you to study, no skating here. It's all the same faculty so good luck!!!

thanks dijaqrn!

I have spoke to ms gaines and she's really nice.

I was hesitant in terms of the passing rates on nclex brn scores I found online. Are the 68 percent passing in the 1 st try

a reflection of the school? Or is it the student that's preparing for the exam.

I just want to be sure what I'm getting into

Look at the prior passing rates... just a bad class I think. The board audited the program in 2006. If you're a serious student you'll pass. Good luck.diane

So I got accepted into the nursing program over at ELAC Spring '12. I'm excited yet nervous. I don't know what to expect. Are there any tips, advice, opinions on what I should look out for. How hard do I need to study?? I was told by the secretary that my first two classes being held in Janurary will be Health Assessment and something else?!?! are these classes hard. I don't know what to think. Someone help!!!! :crying2:

Hi dche3! Thanks for your response!

I was notified of my acceptance sometime in January this year via email. They said that I'll be starting in the Spring 2012 so I had to wait for a while. My stats I would say are pretty good. If your asking about my grades, I can say that my academic performance is average. I got all B's on my science courses with no repeats, which happen to be the main ones that all nursing programs look at. Much luck to everyone entering the field!!! :nurse::yeah:

ohh awesome! I just applied so i hope I'll get in soon. I have the same stats as you. However, if i am correct, I think Elac is just based on a lottery system instead of grades. Either way, I hope I get in somewhere. goodluck!

what is TEAS EXAM?
