easier nursing job than bedside while in school?

Published

Easier may not have been the best word, but for me, I want to melt in to my bed after a 12 hour shift. I've been working med-surg tele and am always mentally, physically, and especially emotionally exhausted. I'm getting ready to start NP school and I'm curious if there is a different type of nursing that will not be as stressful as what I've been doing? Case mgmt? Pacu? Anything but this!

No interest in ICU. Have been considering psych, but I know that's a whole new ball game in itself. Going part time or per diem isn't an option.

I feel the same way, also on a med surge/ tele unit. I have looked at several jobs openings in my area and even applied for some. Always had to decline because the pay was so much lower than i make now. Like $10 lower. I can't take a paycut. I am hoping to drop down to pt or prn in the next year. So far classes are really easygoing and not stressful butI know once clinical start I will not be able to work at all. Good luck to you, it all depends on location and I am in a small town, so for now i am stuck here. I have heard private practices like dermatology or ob are super chill but again big paycut.
