I am currently in nursing school I have one year left before I can take the NCLEX-RN. In 2017 I was charged with a felony dwi because a girl was injured with a broken arm making it a felony. I agreed to participate in a treatment court program which will lower the charges. Worst case scenario I will end up with a misdemeanor dwi. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this when it comes to licensure and finding a job. How much will this effect the process and am I wasting time and money finishing nursing school?

I had a dui on my record prior to nursing school. I’ve never had a problem finding a job or taking nclex. Just be honest and upfront accept responsibility and be upfront that it was not a smart move on your part aka myself lol and that you’ve learned from it say what u learned from it possibly like I am glad that I didn’t kill or seriously injure anyone else or myself and it woke me up to realize I had a problem at least worked for me

Can I ask what state you went through this in? and how long did the review process take? Thanks!

I went to nursing school in Texas but my initial licensure is in Oklahoma (where I tested) I did endorse over to Kansas and Texas after I got my license in Oklahoma without an issue but Kansas was super fast compared to Oklahoma in the whole process.  Oklahoma maybe an extra week and a half at max honestly but it was so long ago I truly can’t say for sure.
