Our local children's hospital features monthly Grand Rounds to which they invite staff from their community partner agencies. I went to one that featured a guy from the APA who was discussing how the DSM-V would feature expanded diagnostic criteria for ASD. It sounded very promising, and as if kiddos with the AS diagnosis that so often keeps them from qualifying for services in our area would now be eligible. Instead, today, I've read that the manual will feature diagnostic criteria that is likely to narrow who will be eligible for services. It is very distressing! Have any of you been hearing about these changes?
