Hello all! I am scheduled to take my NCLEX-PN on 08/25/2014. I have been studying and doing at least 200 questions/day. I feel good about testing in a few weeks, however, how in the world do you study for the drugs on the NCLEX? I know its impossible to learn everything about every drug, but I would like to get an idea about the type of questions. Any insight?

Like you said, it is impossible to study and know all drugs. I would focus studying on common medications. Also, I would study drug classes. That makes it so much easier. There is a document on this site floating around that has common drugs and their suffixes. Knowing the classes and suffixes makes it easier on boards...you can at least then have an idea on the type of drug and potential action.
You might find this link of assistance: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pharmacology-flashcards-595483.html
Again, you might see a drug on boards that you have never heard of. Just try to look at the ending to figure out what type of drug it might be or look at this patient's condition if possible to help you figure out what the drug might be treating which in turn might help you answer the question. GOod Luck.

I just took NCLEX PN Saturday and I didn't recognize any but 1. I did a pretty thorough review of Pharm with ATI practice exams and Exam cram. I think the best thing is like the other poster said....study drug classes, suffixes, etc.
