Dorms/ On Campus Housing?

Published

So how many people dorm/ stay at on campus housing. I need to either do this or get an apartment. I am still not sure what I should do. I live about an hour and a half from the school (more during rush hours). Also I am about 2 hours from my church. If I stayed in dorms I would only be a half hour from church. It would also be easier for me to find work near campus.

What is your expierience with this?

When I was an undergrad I lived in the dorm the entire time I physically attended classes (3.5 years) and the last year I did electives online through my school's distance education from home. My hometown was 3.5 hours away from my school so I did not have much of a choice but could not see the added expense of having an apartment when I was home Fridays through Monday mornings. My school was suitcase school and everyone, including myself, went home on weekends. All and all a dorm is no different from an apartment except for community bathrooms which you get used to. If you don't like your roomate, in my case twice, they usually won't be in the room when you are to avoid confrontations. And like I said I was only on campus Monday-Thursday nights, sometimes only Monday through Wednesday nights. And you never have to worry about traffic or parking (which is a huge deal at many schools). At my university students needed to get to class an hour+ to get parking spaces--and God help you if your classes are spaced out during the day and don't have anything to do for a few hours and can't go nowhere or lose your parking spot.
