I'm thrilled that I finally got my RN license but unless there are objections I'd like to continue to hang here. Getting my LPN was one of my proudest accomplishments and I will always feel like a member of this group.
My wish for all LPNs has always been that they are respected and utilized to their potential. If someone wants to become a RN I would strongly urge them to pursue it but if not being a LPN is a great career choice. I have met some incredible LPNs and I worked hard to be professional and make a good impression on others as a representative also. Be proud to be a LPN and definitely keep increasing your skills and knowledge.

You took NCLEX??? You're an RN, now?? Way to go!!! And, you just can't leave me!! You aren't allowed, and that is it...it has been settled already...so there!
Oh, yes, I plan to be the best I can be. I know that I make positive contributions to health care in the capacity I am most comfortable in doing. I love what I do, have plenty to keep myself busy and keep on trucking.
Plus, bottom line, we are all nurses. You can give incentive to those LPNs that wish to go on, and be a resource to us, because you know more. There is no reason why you can't mingle. I go to the CNA forums often, and you know that I live in the General Discussion forums and most of them are RNs. Haven't been booted out, yet!

Big congrats on your RN license. :)
When did you get your license?? Party ova here!!! :WHCk::clpty::smiley_aa:dncgcpd::anpom:
Love the cake, thank you! My license number was posted this week. It had been over a week since I sat for the boards and I know it sounds silly but even though I knew I passed I couldn't rest until the BON gave me a number. I'm pretty stoked.

Congratulations! It will be interesting to hear your experience of transitioning from the LPN role to the RN role.
I graduate from my LPN program in Dec and begin my RN (regular program) in Jan. I've come to respect LPNs and feel frustrated and saddened at the lack of respect that is often given to them. It's so wrong. It seems that things are only getting worse, as there are hospitals in my area that refuse to hire LPNs, and more going that way.
You need to be your personal best, and if that means getting your RN for you to accomplish your goals, then you need to have no shame in "leaving behind" the LPN role. We are each unique, and need to fulfill ourselves to our fullest capacity, and it doesn't make you better than anyone else, it only makes you better for YOURSELF, and that's awesome! So, don't worry about the LPN crowd feeling insecure about your RN degree-you really uplift the group with your attitude here on this site! Good luck!
I agree. You did what you had to do. We mature to a certain point, know what we want and what is needed to get there. And, if the best way is to become an RN, then, do your thing! I'm not jealous of any LPN that moves on. I'm tickled pink for you, Jules A.!

Jules, you are my hero! You just did what I hope to do
I just graduated LPN school and have full intentions of becoming an RN. My plan is to start banging out the few pre-reqs in September, that I have left before I can apply to the RN bridge program. Not that I feel an LPN isn't "good enough" for me, its just that my dream is NICU and my LPN can't get me there.
I am not a LPN yet but I for one would hate to see you leave the LPN/LVN corner, I say you're more than welcome here

Big congrats!:yeah:Keep us posted on your transition, b/c many of us will be going thru the same thing, and your experience will be soooo helpful.
I also love being an LPN and if I could stay in the ER and make equal pay for equal work, I wouldn't bother with my RN. That being said, I also am attracted to trauma nursing and no matter what my experience, I need my RN to pursue that path. Sad but true.
Again, bit congrats!
BIG, I meant BIG congrats!
