Does it matter where you take your prereq's?

I'm going off to nursing school(at a college) this summer(aug 07') and they made it clear they want A&P I and a math course done. They dont offer A&P I at the university I was attending so the only place they offer it is at a community college close by. This also goes for math. Does it matter where you get your pre-req's? Like will they not might consider or count my prereq's since they will be done at a technical & community college as opposed to a college/university?

I didnt think it would matter but the usual worry me is concerned.

Call them and ask them to be sure.

But an accredited community college should be acceptable. (A vo/tech school, notsomuch).

When would you be taking the pre-reqs? Because a lot of private universities won't accept credits taken while you're enrolled in their course of study (other wise you could theoretically take 90% of your classes at a state college, but get your BSN from Super Expensive Private U having only paid for 5 classes there).

Good luck!

Hi!

thanks for responding.

Yes the technical and community college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. I'm taking my pre-req's now and I will be done them by the time I startnursing school.

I will call or e-mail to make sure though as well.

thanks again

i would also check the # of credits you need for the course. some schools offer a&p without a lab which may only count for 4 credits instead of 5 which may be required by your school. if you contact your school they should be able to tell you which schools in your area whose credits they will accept.

Just being curious here, but what university doesn't offer a basic pre-req math course? I'm guessing that you must have something other than college algebra...more like biostatistics or something along those lines?

I do, however, understand the differences some schools have with offering Anatomy vs A&P I. That was a headache for me in my transfer as well.
