I have just been accepted into a practical nursing program at Platt college in Oklahoma. They seem really nice and have been very informative. I know a few people who are graduating from there this month and they seem very pleased with their experience. I did recently find out that Platt is NOT accredited by the National League of Nursing. They are however approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. I was wondering how important it is for a school to be accredited by the NLN. Does it matter??? I would really like some insight before I invest any more time or money into this college. PLEASE HELP!!!!:uhoh21:

NLN is a standard, but not necessary required.
What I would look into first and foremost is that is this program accepted by LPN to RN programs in the area and are those LPN to RN programs NLN approved.
I'm not sure what your long-term goals are, but you never know if in the future you're going to want to get your RN. Some LPN to RN schools might only take LPNs from NLN approved schools, however, most are probably going to take someone with an active LPN license and not worry about the accreditation of the school, but just make sure now.
Otherwise, if you get your LPN license, that's all that matters. Good luck to you.
