Does anyone have any info on Miami-Dade's BSN program?

Hello! I am new to this site as well as to the nursing world! I have recently decided on a career change and was looking for information on Miami-Dade College's BSN program. I am seeing an advisor this Saturday but I want to be well informed before I get there. I already have a bachelor's degree in a different field. I completed several prerequisite courses during undergrad, but I still need to complete about 3 or 4 more prereqs.

I can't find a lot of information on Dade's BSN program. The page for the BSN program on MDC's website is blank. Can anyone give me some insight as to what I need to do to apply for this program? I am planning on finishing up the prereqs between spring and summer of 2010. I have no idea what to expect or how the process goes.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

FYI,

mdc has an rn-bsn program on campus, not online

and does not offer a generic bsn, they offer ASN-RN and RN-BSN

Thanks very much for your post. Have you heard any feedback about the quality of the Miami Dade RN to BSN program versus, say similar programs at FIU or FAU. Does Miami Dade accept very many students for the RN to BSN program? Any information would be greatly appreciated because it would save me at least one trip to Miami.

I was told the program is only offered part time, and that it is a great program to be a part of. I just dont know how the program is for.

i took the tease at miami dade and sat down with an admissions counselor afterward. i recommend that you do that and bring your current transcripts. i know they have an accelerated bsn for those of us that already have bachelors like you and i. i was told it is extremely competitive and it is about one year full time. i think they now just look at your natural science gpa and your tease scores, i know they were accepting high 3's for gpa, not sure of exact number but at least 3.75. for the january start. they do not recommend that you work during the courses. i found the staff there not to nice or helpful, but you can at least meet with an admissions counselor and they can tell you what exact courses you will need. i would up not being able to apply because they wanted me to take one alternate math course, even though i had a higher level already completed. but i have heard through the grape vine it is a good program.
