Doctors Without Borders

Specializes in International.

Back in the summer of 2009, I was living/studying abroad in the Motherland. It is then I realized how much I loved traveling and wanted to do something that where for a few years I I could travel the world, live in the poorest countries, make a difference in a few people's lives, and getnpaid for it(not a lot of money though).

This program is my motivation through nursing school, is anyone else joining.

I am graduating in June and I would love to be apart of doctors without borders. I have been hearing that you need 2 years of experience (like everything else) to get hired. Have you heard something different?

You must have at least two years experience to join doctors without boarders.

You must have 2 years experience, however, they count experience gained while in nursing school. So, if you started clinicals your first semester in nursing school, and then graduated 2 years later, that would be considered two years. Granted they give higher preference to people with experience aside from just education clinicals, but they do start the two years in nursing school for me.

I have volunteered for them several times, and this question has came up.

Wow, I didn't know that. I am graduating soon and I will have a 2-yr ADN... I would still want to have a couple years experience on a med/surg floor before I started any non-profit work

Oh how fun! I wish I could...

Do it now when you are young because if you wait, you won't do it!

Good luck making a difference :nmbrn:
