Originally I was set on stopping my nursing education after I obtained my MSN in Nursing Education. But since I have made the transition from an Adjunct to Teaching Faculty, it looks like getting my Doctorate in Nursing Practice would be ideal for my current position. Anyone who could offer insight on Purdue Global's DNP Program would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone got a PhD first and then decided to go back to school to get a DNP? Anyone know of schools that offer PhD-DNP bridge programs? I see a lot in internet searches about programs the other way, I.e., DNP-PhD bridge programs, but can't find it the reverse way. I also see DNP/PhD Dual Degree programs where you work on the two degrees simultaneously, but not where you have the PhD already and now want to earn the DNP. Thanks!

I am currently in a DNP program 1st semester, I was loving the work at the beginning of the semester, I was excited for everything. End of semester, I am doubting everything, and I am working on papers that I would normally love, but I am unsure of what I am saying. I thought I knew what my project was but I am looking at it and it seems like the stupidest thing. Ugh. What am I doing?

	Hi everyone,

I am currently studying for my PMHNP boards and am also looking ahead to the next step in my education. I am very interested in applying to the MSN-to-DNP program at the University of Miami and was hoping to hear from anyone who has gone through the process.

Was the application and approval process lengthy or straightforward? Did you find the program to be worth it in terms of career advancement and content quality? Also, how rigorous or time-consuming did you find the coursework?

Any tips, insights, or feedback—positive or negative—would be really appreciated as I consider my options. Thanks in advance!

I graduated with my PhD in December 2024. I would prefer to not go the tenure track professor route to continue working on (any type of) research. Ultimately I would like to work for the NIH in the NINR division. I have looked at fellowships too. Problem is, I do not have "researcher experience" or "established in publications". Job boards and health systems keep sending staff positions. I am not sure how to find a "nursing scientist or nursing research position". Does any one have any ideas, suggestions, or leads? Is there a better time of year to look for a position? Are there regional considerations? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thank you for your time.

I graduated Dec. 2022 with DNP and in 2021 August with MSN, AGPCNP. Certified by AAANP and licensed in the state of WI. It has clicked that indeed I completed this terminal degree.

Again, thank you all for building this community for all!

I looked into completing a DNP which all seem to be quality improvement projects.

Any options for doctoral degrees tied to Psych and practical patient care? For example, I taken classes at the Beck Institute since I do therapy, but they are not degreed. Accreditation is also not relevant since my masters qualify me for licensing/practice. I am thinking something along the counseling route. I even looking into Christian Counseling. MY goal here is complete the terminal degree while learning something applicable on the patient care side

Not a PhD. Not a DNP focusing on research and policy. Not an EdD focusing on adult instruction.

Hey, all! I just graduated with my MSN (FNP track-just passed the AANP!), and I already know that I plan on pursuing a doctorate degree. However, I'm not a huge fan of the current options for doctorate degrees in nursing. I feel like my program already hit on the main topics I would learn in a DNP (leadership, informatics, EBP, etc.) and I'm not too interested in completing more clinical hours/project hours for that degree. I am interested in a PhD because I'm a research/statistics nerd-but I'm afraid that degree wouldn't be put to much use because I don't plan on going into academia (I'm the sole financial support for my family).

So my question is what are some other good/useful options for doctorate degrees for practicing APRNs? I have a lot of interests so I'm open to anything.

	Thank you!

Just curious because I'm having some thoughts about quitting and not sure whether or not I should push through. What did you do instead when you dropped out? Or alternately, what made you stay? Do you ultimately feel good about your decision, and why/why not? Struggling a bit over here and would love to hear from others who've maybe been in the same place.

I have an interview coming up for the BSN-PhD program I applied to. It's with the Dean of the program as well as another professor. I'm thankful for the advice I've received on this forum in the past, and would be eternally grateful for tips regarding the interview- specifically the types of questions to expect, how to discuss my statement of purpose while also being honest about other research interests, how to prove my committment to the program, etc.

What makes a candidate desirable? What makes a candidate "mentorable"?

Background: 12yrs clinical experience ranging from home health to ICU. Personally, I don't know any RN PhDs, and I certainly don't know any RN's that went through a program like this, so I've had to navigate the process without any real guidance. It's been a doozy. I am currently assisting in research for a professor of a different healthcare discipline- so although the experience has been invaluable, he can't speak to what a formal interview with the College of Nursing would be like. Thanks in advance!!

	Hello,

I work at the DC VAMC and will work on my DNP project soon. My education department director sends me a couple of forms to fill out. I am not sure how this information pertains to me. From reading the forms, it looks like it implies that I will be doing hands-on clinical at my site. This is not the case; my project will be a retrospective study. Has anybody had to submit such forms? One is called an application for health professions training; the other is a request for a dual VA employee trainee appointment and TQCVL List of Health Professions Trainees (HPTs) Meeting All Program and VA Requirements and The Trainee Qualifications and Credentials Verification Letter (TQCVL) See attachment.

Hello everyone, I'm graduating in may with my masters in nurse practitioner (psych). It's been a long three years going to school, working full time, and having a 3 and 5 years-old. I'm thinking of going right for my DNP later this year. I'm looking for an online program that works with you financially (assists with financial aide application) as I don't think I'll be able to keep up with the expensive credits (though my employer does offer 7500 a year of employee assistance though I'm not sure if I'll be remaining with them as a reg nurse or seeking a new position with them as an NP post graduation— or moving on to another employee.) Any insight would be appreciated as this is all uncharted territory. So far I've just been looking at Chamberlain (employee offers discount) and Cappella. Thanks!!
