Do You Have A Favorite Area in Nursing?

What is your favorite area in nursing, and do you currently work in it?

I switched from a combined medical/surgical ICU in a small community hospital to a Surgical Trauma ICU at a Level I university hospital. I'll never look back. There's nothing more fun than getting that full resuc. from the OR where the whole team (Attendings, chief residents, residents) and the nursing staff are all over it. It really gets the blood pumping.

OB

and yes, I currently work it. It was my goal from the time I decided to be a nurse onward.

No looking back and no real plans to change....except to consider a residency in renal/dialysis one day perhaps..............

Neuro/Trauma ICU...and yes, I work there.

Most people hate neuro, but I LOVE it! :)

I love LTC.

I'd like to try that ER thing, though...whenever I get up the nerve, if I ever do. I'd have to be ACLS, though, before I'd have the courage...

Tie between nursery/NICU and L&D. I've never worked in a NICU, but have always wanted to be a NICU nurse...

No I do not currently work in it....

I work ER and have never wanted to do anything else. Maybe because I got my start in EMS.

I like never knowing what might come through the doors next, the range of patients-newborn to those beyond the century mark, the wide variety of illnesses (and sometimes creative accidents) and the opportunity to use so many different skills in one setting...And sometimes all of that varied knowledge can be called into service in only one shift..

So for me, it's ER all the way!

For me, it was ED. I knew from the beginning of nursing school that I wanted to work in ED.

I currently work in ED; I just started in February.

I tried floor nursing for six months on a Resp/GMF and it wasn't for me.

I love the ED and I love pediatrics. I work at a pedi urgent care and love it!

I am headed there also....I cant wait! Neuro is rather new to me, though I am excited to learn:)

I am working my favorite area: telephonic triage. My second was disease management........

I know what you mean. I was an EMT for 18 years, and I too loved the rush it gave me. There was no room for boredom.
