We have our vending machines with chips, cookies, sodas and juice. I don't think I could do without them. We just got new kitchen staff which changed up our menu to more healthy options. I like having the options, but they close at 6pm. So if I'm running around with admissions or codes at the start of my shift I might not be able to get down there. Also, when I'm stressed there is nothing I want more than a sip of an ice cold soda. I think its a taste/texture thing for me.

Mostly junk at my hospital in the vending machines and cafeteria. Plus, cafeteria closes at 7 so as a night shifter I'm pretty much screwed if I forget or don't have time to pack a lunch :(

We don't have vending machines for coffee/tea/hot chocolate thank goodness! Just snack food - well, chips, candy bars, etc. But we do have a pretty good cafeteria that has a healthy salad bar every day. It closes at 6 p.m. though.

Night shift folks - man do they eat!  They have a barbeque set up outside the ER and the doc and staff bbq about once a week. Everyone brings in food - like a pot luck - almost every night. Or they have Taco Night or Pizza Night.

Day shift? Not so lucky.

It is really up to each of us to eat healthier.

Night shift has to bring their own food since most places don't keep the cafeteria open for us! It's either TV dinner, take out or left overs or vending machine. I wish we had the cafeteria and grill open, sandwiches, yogurt we used to until that was stopped to save money.

I don't really give a hoot if my hospital should support healthy eating, I just wish they would work harder to support actually eating anything. LOL. To be honest, when I read the title of this thread I thought it must be a joke.
