Do most schools look at the last 60hrs?

Published

From my research, it seems as though most schools look at your last 60hrs for the GPA and then the GPA of the required sciences. However, some schools do not hint at how they calculate the GPA.

I have a B in my anatomy and physiology classes, then will be retaking chems(general, and bio and orgo) for A's. My last 60 hours should come out to be above a 3.5, with my required sciences being above a 3.5 as well.

Have you guys who have applied....and those who have gotten in, found that they mostly factor in your last 60?

All of the schools I applied to looked at both my cumulative (which was honestly terrible - like a 2.9 - due to a lot of issues that are all very old now) and my last 60 credits aka my ABSN GPA (which was a 3.9). They also looked at my science GPA as its own entitity. Honestly, the numbers will get you into the interview; the interview will get you into the program. Once you can get some face time, your grades aren't what is going to make or break you. I got accepted everywhere I interviewed, but I was declined quite a few interviews entirely as well. All this to say... every program looks at things a little different and I found that admissions coordinators were generally very open and willing to chat about how their program looks at candidates' GPAs and that helped me fine-tune my application strategy after the first few "thanks but no thanks" to interview

Most of the schools I applied to looked at my cumulative GPA. Your grades are great. My advice to you, is to apply to whatever school that you are interested in. You'll get an interview to almost any school with your GPA. How well you do in your interview is up to you.

Thanks for the replies!

I am in a 12 bed adult ICU now, I will be applying in Nov. Dec. and Jan. to USF, Wolford, and Barry. Will have 9-10 months of ICU experience at time of application and 8 months of prior CCU experience. Will have TNCC, CCRN as well, hopefully I can snag an interview like this!
