Do I still love nursing???

Published

Ok, I'm a case manager at a home health agency and feel like I hate nursing. This is my 2nd time at same job and I still am unhappy. I worked surgical and OR after graduating in 2010 but after 2 yrs had to stop due to relocation. I went into home health for a year & 1/2 then went to floor nursing at a level 1 trauma hospital for a year but hated that even more! I have my BSN now but can't seem to find my place in the nursing world. I did like OR nursing but no longer live in that area so I'm lost! Now that I have taken so much call in home health I don't want to go back to OR nursing bc taking call is a must! Help!! I think I just don't like patient care, maybe I need to be behind the scenes...

I also worked OR and home health and hated the call and felt burned out as well. I think the OR *can be* a high burnout environment. I transferred to the ER for a totally different experience and enjoyed it and learned a lot, now I'm heading back to school full time to pursue an MSN and possibly go into Nursing Informatics (haven't decided for sure yet). I'd suggest transferring to a different type of nursing or maybe go back to school before totally giving up on nursing??
