Do hospitals provide uniform?

This is a stupid question :smackingf , but I'm a new nurse and I'm yet to get my first nursing job. I know you gotta get your own scrubs, but I want to know if hospitals provide nurses with 1 or 2 set of scrubs. Just curious.

Most hospitals do not, I know of only one hospital in all of CA that does.

It depends on the facility and the Unit. Certain specialties like L&D, and some ICUs/Oncos provide hospital scrubs.

A few hospitals (usually in heavily unionized areas) provide a Uniform allowance on a yearly basis.

However, the vast majority of facilities...you buy/provide your own uniforms.

At the hospitals that I am familar with it depends on what unit you will be working on. Units like the OR, L&D, cath and endo labs provide the scrubs, everywhere else in the hospital you purchase your own.

I have never worked at a place that has provided me with scrubs. I work PRN at a psychiatric hospital and they provided me with 2 polo shirts. Scrubs can be purchased inexpensively at medical supply stores and online.

I've worked at one hospital where scrubs were included in the union contract. Full time staff got three sets up hiring, casuals got two. Decent quality and we could choose between scrubs and scrub dresses.

Some hospitals sell scrubs through the laundry in an effort to reduce theft. Certain departments issue them to staff but there is always a set available in the projectile vomit, etc. hits the nurse.
