I have to go in to see the Dr. tomorrow. I have not even been sick with a cold in about 7 years. We will see.

So here is an update… The fever broke yesterday. I feel about 500% better. I talk to the Dr’s office today and I did test pos. for Influenza A. They also told me that the Dept. of health will be contacting me in regards to the H1N1. I asked, “What does the mean exactly?” She said, “I don’t know.”

Sorry you still don't have concrete answers, but glad you're feeling better!

Can you give us any idea where you picked this up? Do you have any idea of who you may have unknowingly exposed before you knew?

I wish you well. I am glad you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing your story!

On the bright side ;) you will be protected if this comes back in the fall......sorry.......

I know that is not even amusing :sofahider:

Just wondering what made your doc think u could possibly have swine flu? Or are they sending cultures from everyone presenting with flu-like symptoms to the state doh as a precaution? Sounds like u just had regular old flu symptoms to me. I picked up the flu at work several months ago (yeah I know I should have gotten my flu shot..bad me!), and my fever was up to 103.7, had chills, n/v, etc. Just alternated Tylenol and Motrin, stayed in bed for a few days, and stayed hydrated when I finally stopped throwing up. Glad to hear ur doing better.

no idea where i picked it up. in the three day prior to symptoms i was mostly at home doing yard work. i did go to my 80yo mothers’ house and a couple bars. i talked to all the people i was out with this weekend and nobody is sick. my wife’s test came back negative but her school made her stay home the last two day until the results came in. if it does come back that i had h1n1 they are going to close the school for seven days even though she is negative.

my understanding is that all positive influenza (a) tests are being sent to the doh. i did not have anything coming out of me (from either end) just my nose.

-chills

-erratic temp. (100.8 an hour later 102.7 an hour after that 99.5 then back up again.)

-not much sneezing but a very runny nose.

-headache

-no cough

I am sure that was exactly what you wanted to hear. :icon_roll

I've had it since Tues., and saw the doctor at a "doc-in-the-box" yesterday. He was better informed than I expected, but didn't want me to wear the mask I'd asked for upon my arrival there, when he saw me. (It wasn't an N95.)

They did the viral test, which was neg., but the doctor said that it wouldn't turn positive until the 3rd or 4th day. Since Tamiflu should be started within 48 hours of becoming ill, that presents a dilemma. However, the following was decisive.

This past year I had pneumonia twice and have asthma; and recently was hospitalized due to a severe upper GI hemorrhage (no, it's not cirrhosis), receiving 2 units of PRBCs. Incidently, I'm 70.

I started taking Tamiflu and Doxycyclin BID last night, as well as the Chinese herbal preparation called Yin Ciao, which helps curtail my regular URIs (about 2 a year).

I live alone, and don't go out except when my dog needs a walk, and then I

stay away from anyone else.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Prayers sent for your speedy recovery.
