Does anyone have their own disability insurance? I have some coverage through work and with my auto insurance policy, but I had been thinking of adding additional coverage.
I was in a car accident recently where the other driver was 100% at fault. I'm going to be out of work for quite a while and I know if I do buy additional coverage it obviously will not cover me for this incident, but it's still something I've been thinking about. I should be ok between my auto insurance and disability insurance through work for this incident.
If anyone does have their own additional coverage what company do you use, have you used the coverage (and if so how easy was it), and if you are comfortable sharing a rough estimate of what you pay I'd be very appreciative! :-)
Been there,done that, ASN, RN

I have paid AFLAC 100 bucks / month for years. I was disabled with a broken ankle for a year. I was not covered under my temporary agency job. Hurt like a SOB.
It really depends on your work policy/ coverage. You should be getting 60 % of your take home pay. Can you live on that?
Best wishes .
