This is my first term so I had to choose an elective, the choices were ridiculous honestly the choices were: bugs, de vinci code, music, religions of the world, and a few other odd ball, only one even came close to being health related was nutrition. I understand the concept of elective but bugs? I really do enjoy nature but the idea of getting lectured about caterpillars makes me giggle

We weren't required to take an elective, so I'm lucky with that so far. I'm pretty sure that'll be a whole different ball game when I go for my RN though. Since they had Nutrition as an option, if you're wanting to keep it health-related and find no interest in anything else, I'd say it'd be your best bet! Out of the ones you listed, I'd definitely be going with Nutrition, vs. Caterpillars.

I loved many of my electives. I wish I could have taken more of them. They help the student expand their intellectual horizons, approach problem-solving in a wider variety of wasy, and generally help the nurse have a broader perspective on the world in which people live and experience health problems.
I recommend choosing whichever electives appeal to you most -- and then just relaxing and enjoying them.
BTW: World religions is VERY relavant to a health career. Not every patient (or co-worker) will share your particular religious beliefs or culturual background. And yet, we nurses are expected to incorporate a person's spiritual and cultural needs into our care. The more you can learn about different religions, cultures, etc. ... the better.

I have to take two electives this semester so that I can get to 12 credit hours and receive my full financial aid package. Luckily I was able to take both of them online. I chose astronomy and sociology. I'm kind of excited, sometimes I need a break from nursing classes.

I loved my electives! I enjoyed taking a class or two "just for fun". It helps to relieve some of the stress r/t nursing school.
BTW, I'm wondering why nutrition is offered as an elective. It was a requirement for us.

World Religions is a required class, for my LPN to RN bridge, its NOT an elective. Of course, I'm attending a Catholic-based college. But I have to say, although I am not overly religious or spiritual, i found the WR class very interesting. And it really will help with the care of patients of religions different from my own.
I still have to take an elective and what my college offers is very limited. Going with history for that elective.
Just take whatever appeals to you and whatever you think would be interesting.

As a general ed requirement for a degree, there are certain electives that needed to be taken at my school. I took all my gen ed classes prior to starting nursing school. I enjoyed all of them and think they are a really important part of my overall education to make me a more rounded person. I enjoyed World Religions. I happen to think every person should be required to take it. Religious discrimination is a pet peeve of mine so I think if people understood other religions and cultures they would realize that its not all about what they believe and every person deserves respect even if you don't believe as you do. Also, as nurses we will come across people that have different belief systems. Understanding other beliefs may help or not understanding what someone believes may hinder care. I also enjoyed Cultural Anthropology and took almost every history course my school offered. I think they have definitely made me a better person.
