Hey all
I currently work in PICU in England, we are currently in the process of (fingers crossed) being accepted into Canada, Alberta.
In England we have diferent areas such as Health Visitors, School Nurses, child protection nurses and jobs within the community setting. Do you have those kind of job's in Alberta?
I would eventually like to get more involved in the child protection aspect of nursing and when we start a family more aong the lines of a school nurse (if we were to stay in England) and just wondered if there were those kinds of positions in Alberta!
Thanks x x

Take a look at the health region for where you are planning on settling.
There are nurses that work with the various police departments for the child at risk teams. I'm not sure who actually employs them.
School nurses are basically gone. Nurses visit the schools from the various public health units. They are pretty sought after positions and seniority counts a lot for getting one of those jobs.
Health visitors probably fall under the spectrum of the Community Care team who do home visits.
All nurses are unionized here, so it can take a while to get what you want.
Thanks for the reply...think I am starting to understant that the longer you have been somewhere the more it counts!
