Hi,
I was wondering if anyone took a review course or hired a tutor before they took their first NCLEX exam? If you did take a review course, which one, did you like/dislike it, how much did it cost?
Thanks!

I took Hurst also and loved it. Passed my first try too. I also did ATI practice tests and questions in NSNA NCLEX-RN review book.

The hospital that I will be working at post graduation is sponsoring a NCLEX review course through another health care system. The total for the course is $350 and they will be footing the costs.

did kaplan. paid 500 for it and I got reimbursed from the hospital that I work at. If they did not pay I would have gone to e-bay and bought the test prep book for 25. read it cover to cover 3x's and question yourself

Just did tons of questions myself on the computer from the NCLEX study guides. Did them for the last year of nursing school. Passed at 75 questions. I can't say I wouldn't recommend a Review class because I don't know what they cover but I didn't think it was necessary for me and I was happy with that decision.

I also took the Hurst review and paid $350 for it recently. I thought it was great, the instructor was able to tie a lot of the concepts that I had learned in nursing school together really well. The class itself was very interesting and she was able to keep my attention the entire time.
I take the NCLEX in May so I'll let u know how it goes.

I graduated in Dec. I took the Nclex pn on Feb 15 and passed. I did not have tutor. And I did not take a review course. What I did was I studied the Saunders/CD. That was it. I did not let the Nclex test get to me. I went into it like it was like any other test I took during school. They are just questions. You have to think like a nurse during the testing. Of course you have to know your STUFF! I wrote down the lab values, etc, when I went into the test room. That helped. So I say just dont get nervous during the test..be positive....you can pass,,,because I did...,,,,my problem now is....I cant find a job!!!!

Do you mean you had them memorized and just jotted them down once you got in there to refer to, or did you actually take something in with you?!?! I'm guessing you mean you wrote them down, but this threw me a bit when I first read it....
Of course, I'm studying for finals and am a wreck mentally, lol....

Where do I go to find out the hurst review?
When you get in the test room ..and after the test starts..you are then allowed to write down anything to help you....I wrote down the lab values incase any questions came up about them. ..so I didnt have to sit there and think...they were right in front of me....they give you an eraser board so you can do that...its like a cheat sheet. Once you are done..you give it back to them...you dont erase anything...its for them to see...?? Anyway...dont stress out...its not worth it. I took my test on a Friday at 11:30am.....that was so I could sleep in my own bed...(so I didnt have to go to a hotel)...and then I could drink my coffee....eat breakfast...and Yes I did study alittle before I left...the testing center is about 40 mins from me..I wanted to be in the so called "class room mood"...I had 85 questions...it took me about 2 hrs....and I passed. I found out that sunday after...two days...but it did not show up on the Ohio boards until that next wed because that monday was presidents day. So I did pay pearsons 7.95 on that sunday to find out that I had passed! Now I am trying to find a job....I have no experience as a na so I think that may be hurting me....I am a Lpn with no job...but I keep looking....Goodluck to you...just dont get nervous...you will do fine!
