New nurse grad in dialysis

  1. OK. So i am a second career nurse who has just graduated and passed the nclex. I have taken a job in dialysis with one of the big 2. As a new nurse I have to train and work as a tech for a year before I can apply for a charge position.

Nursing school was hard and I spent a lot of time worrying about my decision. So of course I am worrying about this decision. A few things:

    1) i don't want to work med/surg. but i think i would enjoy ER or PICC nursing, so I m hoping I can use the dialysis to get Infusion certified.

    2) i never had a real THING i was drawn to in nursing school....i did like cardiac cath and i really loved wound care in the outpatient setting....because i loved how the nurses got to see same patients and kinda KNOW them.....this is the second reason i am drawn to the dialysis.

    3) my only worry is if I hate it, i'll have to start from scratch somewhere else.

I apologize for the lengthiness and appreciate any advise or opinions.

Well, if you don't know what you want, it's unlikely that a stranger will know. Just start somewhere and see how it goes.
