Our urologists order intermittent bladder irrigation for our outpatients quite often, so I decided to make an instruction sheet. I am using the following resources

Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago- Life Center- Medical information- Bladder care- General guidelines urinary catheter irrigation and cleaning irrigation supplies available online

Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques by Perry, A.G. And Potter, P.A. (1998) Mosby, St.Louis

I noticed that there is a discrepancy in my resources. i.e. Rehab Institute of Chicago recommends removing the bulb from the syringe to instill the solution whereas, Perry And Potter do not remove the bulb just instruct to gently instill the solution. Our practice is the same as Perry and Potter, but I am curious what do others do in their facilities?
