Dialysis nurse training...

Published

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any dialysis nurse training on the east coast for rookie LPN'S? I've been an LPN since 2008, but haven't really worked because I'm currently a stay at home mom w/ two young kids. My late stepdad was a dialysis patient, and ever since I've always wanted to work in dialysis nursing to sort of "give back" to those with renal disease. I live in a rural area, and don't know of any such programs in my area. I'm also curious if someone with little nursing experience can do such a course? Or get into dialysis nursing with little experience? Would love to hear from LPN's working in dialysis or who know a lot about the field... thanks!

Specializes in Dialysis.

if you work for the big dialysis companies, they put you through a multi-week training course about dialysis.

Do you know if I would have to have a year previous experience to get on with such a company? My late stepdad was a patient of Davita dialysis several years. I always thought it would be nice to work for them. I don't have much experience as an LPN though. I got my license in '08, but have stayed home with my kids to take care of them instead of working. My license is current though. Thank you.

Hi did you ever get a job in dialysis?

how do you get into HD nursing?
