I have been doing inpatient acute dialysis nursing for 6 years.  I have done cardiac, OR,  med-surg,  homecare and casemanagement.  Would it be hard to transition to oncolocy/infusion?  I need a change and oncology is an area I am interested in.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

I’d say go for it! There’s a lot to learn for sure, especially when it comes to chemo and common adverse reactions from cancer/chemo, but the foundation you have from other nursing specialties will definitely help! I’ve seen many patients develop Afib or renal failure that requires dialysis after chemo, so the knowledge you have when caring for cardiac or dialysis pts will come in handy. Oncology is such an exciting field, and I’m biased of course but I think onc patients are the best patients. They always seem to have so much fight in them, and many of them will do anything to get better.
