Yikes!! I've had my DM students - the ones well known to me- occasionally not be able to get me a new care plan until a week or so into school, but I can't recall having a dm1 student with nothing. Discuss with administration, as you may have grounds for the student not to be present in school until these basic needs are met.

I've had this issue once before and my admin had my back when I told the parent until I have orders and supplies that the student may not be on campus. I got orders within the week.

OK, that is STAGGERINGLY amazing. That never happens to me.
@NutmeggeRN YAY you have orders. And...you know, if it wasn't important to the parent it cannot be important to you. I know it IS important to you tho.

According to our legal team for our division, we can't keep them out of school for no supplies. We have to let them attend, and continue to work on getting them, but if the student has a diabetic issue, the parents are told 911 will be called each time, as we have no orders to support treatment in the school. Once 911 is called a few times, and the bills start to rack up, the supplies come in pretty quick.

This is me today. No orders, no insulin. I'm paging the diabetic nurse on call right now. This is a known student to me that I've talked with the family. UGH.
