Ok...so I got a pt that is on Diabetic Somac Source. I have looked in my drug book and can not find it. I know that it is a feeding solution but thats all. I can't seem to find any information about it on the web. I would like to know a little about it. If any one has any info please post. Thanks in advance!

the one thing i would have done is taken a label off one of the cans. it sounds similar to resource which is another liquid formula that i think nestle now owns. the next thing i would do is pick up the phone and call the dietary office of the facility, tell them you are a student (they don't have to know you are not in the building) and ask them to give you information about this somac source including the correct spelling (the manufacturer, calories per can, protein per can, etc.) once you know the manufacturer it will be easier to get product information.

Are you sure you have the name correct? Somac is a trade name for the GI drug pantoprazole. The feed formula couldn't possibly be DiabetiSource? There did used to be one called SandoSource, but that's not for diabetics.

Available enteral feed formulae for glycemic control in adults:

- DiabetiSource AC (Nestle)

- Nutren Glytrol (Nestle)

- Glucerna (Abbott Nutrition)

- Nepro with Carb Steady (Abbott)

- Suplena with Carb Steady (Abbott)

Resource Diabetic was discontinued in 2008 and replaced by Nutren Glytrol.
