what is the nurse's primary focus when a pt has diabetes and neuropathy? i keep coming back to skin integrity being the most important due to the loss of sensation. but is there something more important to assess and monitor?

I'd personally would rate the patient's blood glucose management as a higher priority, as it'll kill them quicker if it gets screwed up.
Then again, I'm still just a nursing student, so I could be wrong.

Hello...
I second the suggestion of the Diabetes, there may be further complications...
Diabetic Ketoacidosis can result... which can lead to coma and death... etc... yet Skin Integrity is important aswell..
