Ok so apparently my hospital has changed from JCAHO to this Norwegian based company called Det Norske Veritas which translates as The Norwegian Truth. Does anyone else use them at their hospital? They are CMS approved so you still get reimbursed by Medicare/aide. Apparently they started out in the shipping industry and them moved to hospitals/healthcare organization. They only currently accredit around 100 something hospitals, but I wanna know If there is anyone on AN that has interacted with these people. We all know how JCAHO is and how (well at least how I feel) that they are just out to screw you as hard as they possibly can. The new company is surveying the hospital the next 3 days and apparently they said something to our charge RN about there being dust on the code cart. When i heard this I was like That code cart gets used an assload and thats what they are concerned with, GIVE ME A BREAK HERE. Thanks in advance.

No, but maybe they'll give the JCAHO a little competition.

The dust thing doesn't sound too promising.

Yea it's about time. I hate JCAHO, but they are kinda like a necessary evil.

I worked for a hospital for a few years that switched over to DNV last year. We were told (unofficially) that the change came because it was so much cheaper than Joint Commission certification.

My concern was that this is a community hospital (owned by the county) and there was no press release about this change. So people there still believe they are choosing a Joint Commission-accredited hospital for their care - but they aren't.

That is exactly why we supposedly have turned to DNV because it was cheaper.
